Quick Start

Get up and running with Jotaid in under 2 minutes.

1. Create a Project

Open Jotaid and click the + button in the sidebar. Choose New Project and give it a name.

A Project is the top-level container for all related thinking — like a research topic or a product initiative.

2. Add a Theme

Inside your project, create a Theme Note to group related ideas. Right-click any note and select Convert to Theme.

Themes sit between Projects and Notes, helping you organize ideas into meaningful clusters.

3. Write Your First Note

Click + to create a note. Start writing in Markdown — you'll see real-time syntax highlighting as you type.

Use [[ to create a backlink to another note. Jotaid will auto-complete matching titles.

4. Explore Connections

Switch to Links mode to see your knowledge graph. Notes with backlinks appear as connected nodes. The more you link, the richer the network becomes.

TIP

Use the AI link prediction feature to discover connections you might have missed. Open the Smart Node panel from the Links toolbar.
